Harnessing the Wind

Evin's always been in to the wind turbines that we see driving to Kansas and back.  Then there was the famous Paw Patrol episode that featured them too.  We were talking a lot about them one day and I decided to create a little experiment for him.

Step 1: Gather all sorts of random "rotor blades" and hot glue to toothpicks.

Step 2: Nail styrofoam balls to pieces of wood, if your styrofoam doesn't spin freely, wiggle the nail around a little inside the ball until it does.

Step 3: Lay out your materials.

Step 4: Start building.

We talked about what material worked best for blades, which way they spun the best, and what happened if our blades weren't spaced properly.  Easy, quick, and fun!

May Baskets

I can remember delivering May Baskets at least once.  The memory isn't clear, I may have made them at the Geisen's house and delivered them with their family or I may have been delivering them to their family but I thought it would be a fun tradition to start at our house this year.

We first made our flowers.  Evin really enjoyed making worms (pony beads on a pipe cleaner) but he made some great flowers too!

Then I rolled up some scrapbook paper and added ribbon and we went striding to deliver.  We even met our new neighbors and played some with The Hulk on the delivery route.

Eggsplosion!

Eggspolsion!

The tricky part of this is finding eggs that don't have vent holes in them.  We found some at Hobby Lobby that are mini eggs for $0.99/bag!

Then you need antacid tablets broken up into small pieces.
Evin is showing off his tabs.

Add colored water to the deep side of your egg.  If you want the explosion to leave a cool design on the pavement add cornstarch to your water.  Just a tablespoon or two/bottle.

Then drop your tabs in and cap your egg as fast as you can!

We had more fun with our explosions if we threw the eggs.

Enjoy!!!!
