Jellyfish Slime and BIG news!

First the big news!  Evin is going to be a big brother in the middle of July!
We're pretty excited and just found out that it's a BOY!

Evin's been busy listening to the baby "poopin" in mom's tummy with his stethoscope and watching lots of commercials to decide what kinds of things we need to buy for the baby.

This week at story time we read a story about jellyfish and actually got to meet some jellies too!
We decided to make our own sliming jellyfish at home!

We save plastic containers at our house but until today I hadn't really used any of them!  I collected some
pipe cleaners,
googly eyes,
glue,
a drill
and
odds and ends plastic tubs.

1) Glue googly eyes on tubs.
(we counted our eyes)

2) Drilled holes in lids and at least one in the bottom.
(we counted our holes)

3) Then we put pipe cleaners in some of the holes and we made some of the holes bigger with a bigger drill bit.

4) Bend the pipe cleaners to secure under the lid.

5) Tada!!!  Jellyfish!!!

Then is was time to make the slime...we used our old recipe here.

2 teaspoons borax
1 1/3 cup warm water
(combine together in bowl)

2 cups white elmers glue
1 1/2 cups VERY warm water
food coloring
(combine in large bowl)

slowly mix together until you reach desired consistency!

Next we filled our jellies!

Then we turned them upside down and waited.....and waited.... and waited.

This slime was really thick this week (it always varies a little and I never know why).

So we hung our jellies and stood them up and ran around the house a few times.....jumped off the dining room table.... and peed in the potty.

When we returned they were oozing!

I suggest bigger holes and the bottom for the slime and a bigger hole on the top for air to escape so the slime can ooze faster!
